Student Spotlight

Recent grad Michelle Huynh was nominated for the Student Award of Excellence by the Canadian Association of Journalists for her story “The Toughest Cases of Homelessness: Is there a Way Out?” published in the Calgary Journal. Michelle wrote and said this about Janice Paskey who taught the reporting course out of which the story came: “Janice is amazing and she really was a mentor and guide through the entire story for me.”

Journalism student Noel Harper was hired as part of the Countering Consumerism Contest team funded by an anonymous donor and produced by MRU’s Institute for Environmental Sustainability. (IES) Prizes were awarded at the Earth Day celebration at MRU. 

Gage Smith has been hired as a summer research associate with the Climate Disaster Reporting Project out of the University of Victoria, headed up by our colleague Sean Holman. Gage was a student in the journalism CDP course option in Winter 2022.
